HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Authorities in Forrest County say two Hattiesburg men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was found Thursday in a ditch near William Carey University.
Investigators identify the suspects as 28-year-old Pedro Alvarez and 25-year-old V'nell Miskell.
A Hattiesburg city work crew found the body of 20-year-old Johnnie Cooper on Thursday morning. The body was submerged in the ditch near the university's softball complex.
Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem tells WDAM-TV (http://bit.ly/1nRgaoY ) that the cause of death has not yet been determined.
It was not immediately clear whether either suspect has an attorney.
