Hattiesburg adds $1.8 million to 2014-15 budget - Mississippi News Now

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Hattiesburg City Council has voted to adjust the city's 2014-15 budget, adding $1.8 million to the bottom line.

The increase will allow the city to restore a number of personnel positions, consulting expenses and capital purchase that were culled from the budget before it was passed in September.

The Hattiesburg American reports (http://hatne.ws/1p1bG5g ) one of the personnel slots will mark the return of former Chief Financial Officer Connie Everett in a part-time position within the city administration.

The money approved Tuesday also will cover expenses associated with a city-operated curb-side recycling program that will be implemented immediately after New Year's.

The council approved a line item of $597,996 for the program, though about $335,000 for the purchase of two trucks will be deferred until the spring.
